The Strokes of medicine!

Medicine has stood the test of time. We have come a long way over the years, from inventing and discovering ideas out of sheer curiosity to now building and recreating possibilities in the new age of automation. What was once a Eureka moment has now become interleaved into the social fabric of our society. This composition is a tribute to some of the most incredible milestones in medicine: smallpox vaccine, handwashing, electrocardiogram, subcutaneous insulin therapy, penicillin, test-tube babies, human immunodeficiency virus, COVID-19 virus and artificial intelligence. Needless to say, there are many other achievements which do not fail to inspire. Let this be an opportunity to embrace the history of medicine, and may it motivate us to continue to work for the betterment of mankind.

This composition is an original piece of water-based acrylic paint on canvas paper. The “strokes” refer to my favorite brushstrokes – whirled brush strokes with carefully merging color gradients. This painting is a panoramic view of the curiosity-driven learning from my early medical years. While it provides me with a great deal of introspection, I hope to continue to carry the legacy of the medical profession with the same level of zeal and passion.

Presenting to you – The Strokes of Medicine.
